Story

The Big Ride for Palestine has supported the Gaza Sunbirds for the last five years.

This year the funds raised as part of the Big Ride will support these four areas of work:

1. International Competitions: Team Palestine is currently in the run in to earn a slot to compete in the Paralympics in LA if they are able to finish 2026 in the top 8 nations in Asia. With a small team but rapidly improving numbers, the team stands a chance but needs your support with training and travel costs to make it.

2. Aid in Gaza: The Sunbirds Aid initiatives in Gaza have scaled in partnership with the World Central Kitchen and other local partners we are able to distribute around 20 tons of bread and 20+ tons of other food every month to people who need it. We also continue with our unique aid interventions whether thats movie nights, hair cuts, and more.

3. Sports in Gaza: We are starting up sports activities in Gaza again, looking at cycling and other avenues of social organising to grow our team with women and men with disabilities from across the Gaza Strip. Your funds will help us sustain these essential rehabilitation activities providing mobility and community.

4. Sports around the world: We are launching sports rehabilitation activities in Belgium and in Egypt to supports refugees with disabilities to start riding bicycles, offering professional tracks to Palestinians who want to compete in international competitions in partnership with the Palestinian National Cycling Federation.
