Story
Sanctuary Cafe came into being on the 4th April 2009 working from a small domestic kitchen in Lymm United Reformed Church hall and with a very limited menu! At the time there were two cafes in Lymm village, neither of which were suitable for young families or those with special needs. We did have a Toddler Cafe on Mondays, but wanted to give people opportunities to get together during the rest of the week. We aimed to provide a welcoming and safe place where members of the community can meet, enjoy food & drink at affordable prices and participate in fun activities.
We still have the same vision but the kitchen is too small to cater for the growth in customers and we want to extend our community outreach which includes activities for families, older people and special interest groups. Also, the hall is in dire need of refurbishment to improve its appearance, eco-credentials and disabled access to the church. We are now ready to go with excellent plans done for us by a local architect! We just need a mere £500,000+ to start it! Since it is community initiative, we would like to invite the local community to help us reach that target!
