Visit the charity's profileOur Big Hospice Hike 2019 is a challenge which will see supporters of the hospice walk 34 miles along The Three Lochs Way (one of Scotlands greatest walking trails) in 14 hours.
The challenge starts in Balloch, where participants will walk a marked route passing Loch Lomond, Gare Loch and Loch Long, taking in wonderful views whilst conquering challenging terrain.
The challenge promises to be thoroughly rewarding both physically and mentally. Teams of three to ten participants, made up of friends, family or colleagues will be walking to raise much needed funds for The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice.
The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice supports patients with life-limiting illnesses to achieve the best quality of life possible in whatever time remains for them. Following a £21m capital appeal, we were delighted to open the doors last year to our wonderful new premises located within the grounds of Bellahouston Park. Glasgow's new hospice provides palliative care to patients within a comfortable environment which feels like home for them and their families. The design incorporates open spaces, family rooms and private areas for patients and families to enjoy. The new design also provides accommodation for patients as young as 16.
The goal of The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice has always been that "where it may not be possible to add days to lives, we aim to add life to days". The work doesn't stop with the building of our new hospice. We need to raise over £3 million in voluntary donations every year to keep our doors open and provide our care free of charge to the people of Glasgow that need it.
We rely on the commitment of people taking on sponsored challenges like this to raise funds for us so we'd like to say a #BigHospiceThankYou to everyone that's signed up and to those sponsoring them too!
