DMT Dachshund Rescue & Support Group is a registered charity (SCO51269) with the sole purpose of rescuing dachshunds from the meat trade and kill shelters in Asia and bringing them to loving homes in the UK
To date (May 2025) we have rescued 275 Dachshunds and dachshund crosses from the meat trade, breeding facilities and kill shelters in China and S.Korea. We also work proactively with other rescue organisations and support the rescue of other breeds.
In January, we were alerted that there were 5 dachshunds cowering on the grounds of a local industrial site. The local staff had been feeding them and trying their best to keep them warm and safe but ultimately, where would they have ended up? We brought them into our care and made sure they would be safe forever.
They became the "literary litter" being named after characters in literature Beatrix, Matilda, Juliet, Finn and Violet. With our help, they are all safe and healthy.
They will be ready to fly to the UK to their forever homes in July, at a massive cost of £18,215. Our team of volunteers and supporters will be working hard to raise these funds through various means and one of these is a mammoth sponsored walk to cover at least one flight at £3,643.
So we need your support with these efforts By donating to our cause, you're not just contributing to a flight ticket; you're giving these dogs a chance at a brighter future. Every donation, no matter how big or small, makes a significant impact. Together, we can provide these dogs with the opportunity for a fresh start, filled with love, compassion, and the warmth of a caring family. Your support will not only change their lives but also fill your heart with the joy of knowing you've made a difference.
Together, let's pave the way for their journey from China to the UK, one paw at a time. Donate now and be a part of their incredible story of hope and resilience.
All are welcome to join us on the walk, details are below:
📍Loch an Eilein, PH22 1QT. Meet in the car park (please note there is a small fee to park your car, they have a card reader at the gatehouse)
🚶We will then walk the Loch an Eilein and Loch Gamhna Circular route which is 5 miles, the route will end back at the car park and those walking 10 miles can go round again. The terrain is nice and easy and there are toilets and a coffee shop onsite. The dogs can also have a splash in the loch to keep cool 🌞
🍺We will have tables reserved in the beer garden at The Old Bridge Inn afterwards (PH22 1PU- 10 min drive from the walk) and sandwiches will be provided. Please join us to celebrate this wonderful charity ❤️🥂
