This year his journey will take him from the hustle and bustle of Cardiff, along the scenic Welsh coast to finish his journey in Holyhead. This incredible route will span 500 miles of beautiful Welsh coastline. But it's not just the views Simon will be looking for as he will be stopping off at wildlife sites along the way. Target species will be the rare High Brown Fritillary, Marsh Fritillary, Large Heath and the White-spotted Sable moth - among others.
Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and donors over the last four years, Simon has raised over £40,000 for Butterfly Conservation.
In 2021 he cycled the epic route from Land's End to John O'Groats. Then, in 2023 he took on North-West Scotland, from Oban to Inverness via Mull, Coll and Tiree. And just last year he undertook Llandudno to Kettering via Wrexham, Manchester, Preston, The Way of the Roses, Hull, and Lincoln.
Please send Simon a virtual cheer along his route with a donation today, and support our vital conservation work.
New data from the UK Butterfly Monitoring Scheme (UKBMS) shows that 2024 was one of the worst years on record for butterflies in the UK and, for the first time, more than half of butterfly species in the UK are now in long-term decline. Butterflies are sounding the alarm for nature and we need to take action now. Please support Simon's incredible journey and make a donation today.
