Organised by Borehamwood Islamic SocietyThe BIS is a registered charity representing all the Muslims of Elstree and Borehamwood and is the only Muslim group in the area. We are fundraising for a permanent place to worship and a community centre.
When the Prophet arrived in Madinah, the first instruction he gave was to build a Mosque, showing its significant role within an Islamic society.
It is therefore a sad but harsh reality that with over 300 Muslims living & working in Elstree & Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, our town still lacks the heart of a Muslim community - a Mosque.
Currently we rent a small shop space to provide basic, essential facilities such as daily prayers, Jummah & Tarawih. However, with increased rent & the space no longer able to accommodate the growing number of worshippers, we are now trying to purchase a property to convert into our first & only Mosque and community centre in Borehamwood!
The Messenger of Allah said, Whoever builds a Mosque for Allah, then Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise. (Bukhari)
