Story
Blairs College Chapel stands as a remarkable but fragile piece of Scotland’s heritage. Once a place of learning, reflection, and faith, it has witnessed generations pass through its doors. Today, it remains a powerful and architecturally significant landmark, deeply rooted in history and meaning, but it now faces uncertainty and requires urgent, informed action to secure its future.
This campaign is the essential first step in that journey.
We are raising funds towards a £40,000 first-stage programme to deliver a Professional Viability Assessment for Blairs College Chapel. This work is also being supported through grant applications, and the funds raised here will act as vital match funding to unlock that external support.
This is not simply a report. It is the foundation upon which everything else depends. The Viability Assessment will examine the building in detail, assess its condition, identify the scale of works required, and set out a clear, costed and practical plan for restoration.
Without this stage of work, the chapel cannot move forward. With it, we create the clarity needed to plan properly, attract further investment, and ensure that every future pound spent on restoration is informed, efficient, and effective.
Investing in high-quality professional work at this stage is critical. It ensures that decisions are based on evidence, reduces the risk of costly missteps later, and lays the groundwork for a restoration that is both achievable and sustainable.
Our vision is for Blairs College Chapel to be brought back into meaningful use as a vibrant space for community life, heritage, events, celebrations, and visitors. A place where history is not only preserved, but experienced and shared once again.
We are at the beginning of this journey, and the work we do now will determine whether this extraordinary building can be secured for future generations.
Your support will help unlock the £40,000 needed for this vital first step... and open the door to everything that follows.
