Story
BLGC’s counselling service is currently in a vulnerable position due to a lack of continuation of funding. This service is vital in supporting local children and young people through any traumas they have experienced, when they need to speak to a qualified counsellor. Due to funding coming to an end the service will stop running from the end of March 2024 meaning many children and young people are going to lose the vital support they need.
The loss of this critical service means more young people will not be able to access free support when they need it, leading to the deterioration of young people’s mental health and adding more pressure on other services, already unable to meet demands.
We DON’T want to close down this service. We are seeing more and more children and young people struggling with their mental health and demand increase for services such as counselling. Our aspiration is to grow these services to meet the needs of the community in Bolton and helping children and young people get the right service at the right time.
