Story

Help Us Revive the Border Reiver Trail 60

Help us bring the Border Reiver Trail 60 back to life – preserving history, boosting tourism, and creating a world-class visitor experience across the Borderlands.

Our Story

We are a passionate group of local volunteers, heritage organisations, and community supporters working through The Border Reiver Trail Charity (SC050399) to restore and develop one of the most unique historical trails in the UK.

The Borderlands can certainly give the Highlands a run for their money. The story of the Border Reivers echoes through the hills and valleys between England and Scotland – a time of resilience, survival, and unforgettable history.

Today, that story still lives on in our castles, kirkyards, and tower houses.

But the trail that tells this story needs your help.

What We’re Doing

The Border Reiver Trail 60 is a 60-mile heritage route through Canonbie, Langholm, Teviothead, and Newcastleton – with Gilnockie Tower at its heart.

Thanks to incredible community support, Phase 1 refurbishment is nearly complete. Volunteers have repaired and replaced signage, bringing the original trail back to life.

Now we need your help for what comes next.

Our Goal: £61,855

We are raising funds to deliver the next stages of this exciting project.
