Update from Team Borne - Despite the postponement of the London Landmarks half marathon on the 29th of March 2020, we still plan to run 13.1 miles independently for Borne and our amazing supporters! If a new official date is scheduled, we will go ahead and run this too. Thank you all once again!
Borne is a medical research charity working to prevent premature birth.
This cause is close to our hearts as we have experienced prematurity, and know how it can affect not only the first few days and months of a child and his familys life, but also leave indelible mark. Some of us have had children born prematurely, some have close friends or family that had premature children.
Premature birth is the leading cause of childhood mortality in the world today, and we simply do not know enough about why babies are born too soon. From the moment they are born, premature babies face many challenges, their lives are often complicated by long-term disability, such as cerebral palsy, chronic lung disease or learning difficulties.
Running 21 km through the streets of London is no mean feat, but nothing compared to the daily challenges our babies born too soon have to deal with, and will deal with, for the rest of their lives.
Please support us and support the children of the future, together we can help find a cure.
