The people of Gaza have endured more than a year of intense suffering and relentless attacks. An astonishing 1.9 million people – 9 out of 10 people – have been displaced, often multiple times, from their homes and so-called safe zones since October 2023.
Since October 2023, we have provided over £39 million worth of aid and delivered over 66 million hot meals.
Currently we’re cooking hot meals daily for over 175,000 people who have fled their homes, are now living in overcrowded shelters and are in desperate need of food. So far, with WFP we’ve cooked over 66 million ready-to-eat meals since the start of the escalation.
However, more aid needs to urgently be allowed into Gaza, as the UN reports Gaza is likely to enter famine imminently. 1.1 million people in Gaza are suffering severe hunger. Children are dying from starvation and most families are now going whole days without eating.
This Ramadan, WOP will be supporting the Palestine Emergency Appeal through Islamic Relief.
The Srebrenica massacre, also known as the Srebrenica Genocide is the worst atrocity in Europe since World War 2 and the worst in modern history. The atrocities committed during this period included mass executions, forcible deportations, sexual assaults, systematic assault, leading to close to 100,000 civilian deaths and displacing over 2 million people.
In the rural areas of these affected regions, a majority of households are overseen by female survivors of war, often lacking access to higher education and consequently, stable, well-paying employment.
We are supporting Bosnian families with agricultural and livestock resources such as greenhouses, food dryers, poultry, cows, sheep, goats, and agricultural mechanization.
The expected outcome of this initiative is to enhance food accessibility, improve health conditions, and elevate income levels.
