Over the past month, the lives of young people have changed dramatically following the closure of cultural and educational institutions and social spaces. This moment in time would normally be filled with rites-of-passage for many young people, and these are now being missed by a whole generation.
With projects being cancelled, freelance contracts terminated, internships and work-experience falling through, missing out on vital early work experience has set this generation back in their careers. It is an anxious and uncertain time for those who are seing their fragile income streams disappear.
