Story
Every year, our amazing #TeamRedCross runners come to Newcastle to take part in the world's 'biggest and best' half marathon and raise vital funds to support the work of the British Red Cross
Why run for the Red Cross?
The British Red Cross helps millions of people in the UK and around the world get the support they need when crisis strikes. By joining #TeamRedCross at the 2025 Great North Run, you will enable us to provide continued support to people at their time of need.
Whatever the need and wherever it may be, every step you take and every pound you raise will allow the Red Cross to be there as the worlds emergency responders.
THANK YOU!

As part of #TeamRedCross, you will be supported by our dedicated Challenge Events team every step of the way. Our team will:
> provide 1-2-1 fundraising advice and support to help you smash your sponsorship target
> keep you updated about our work and the difference your fundraising will have
> send you an exclusive FREE Red Cross running vest
> support you with huge cheers along the route and celebrate you at our post-race finish line tent in the event village
About the event
The 13.1-mile route takes you through Newcastle city centre, across the iconic Tyne Bridge to reach the finish line in South Shields where you can enjoy stunning sea views and refreshments and a massive well done in our Red Cross tent!
With 60,000 runners taking part and joyous crowds lining the streets along the way, it truly is a day to remember.

You are amazing: how your fundraising will help
Every pound you raise in sponsorship as a #TeamRedCross runner will make a huge difference to the lives of people affected by crisis in the UK and around the world.
£5 could provide a community in Bangladesh with training on water sanitation and hygiene, helping people keep themselves healthy after a disaster.
£12 could buy a hygiene pack for a refugee or person seeking asylum in the UK, giving them access to some of the basics no one should go without.
£20 could give a parent in the UK the essential items they need to care for a newborn baby, when they have lost everything due to flooding.
£50 could help a family in Nigeria prepare for when severe flooding hits again.
£75 could keep 150 survivors of a fire at a block of flats in the UK warm, while we support them to find emergency accommodation for the night.
Whatever the need, your fundraising will allow the Red Cross to be there so THANK YOU!
