Story

Breaking the Cycle of Children in Poverty

Children in poverty face a loss of security, potential, and future opportunities, leading to anxiety and hopelessness. Many are vulnerable to criminal exploitation, with poverty being a key risk factor. If we don’t act, they will face cycles of crime, trauma, and limited opportunities affecting their entire future. Our call to action is to break the cycle of poverty by providing solutions for these children and give them a fighting chance to unlock their potential and prevent any long-term harm.

Unlocking Potential

Since 1996, the Chandran Foundation has supported children across London. We help children stay in school, improve academically, and build resilience. We work from age 8 through to secondary school to break the cycle of poverty, prevent exclusion, and protect children from exploitation. Our continuous support ensures children in poverty thrive and build brighter, safer futures. We transform children's lives by creating a continuous safety net that gives these children the tools they need to break the cycle of disadvantage and violence.

When we unleash a child’s potential you also protect that child from criminal exploitation and a future where they face serious physical harm and long-term trauma.

Help us keep these children safe and happy.

“I’ve noticed that the children have increased in confidence throughout their time with the Chandran Foundation. Attendance can be an issue at school, but I’ve noticed that our attendance on days when we have tutoring has increased”. Fiona Loudon, Headteacher of Smallwood Primary School.

“I didn’t like coming to school. These sessions changed that. Thank you”.  David, age 10.
