Story

BCRAG was established in 1994 by ex-breast cancer patients and their supporters.

The main aim was to campaign for a dedicated Breast Unit at Leeds General Infirmary. At that time breast cancer patients were being nursed in general surgical or mixed sex wards. Within a few months sufficient funds had been raised to set up the Unit which opened at LGI in 1995.

The group continues to campaign for the best treatment possible for breast cancer patients. Breast Cancer Action has gone from strength to strength, raising over £1M which is now used to fund vital research in Leeds. Several Research Fellows, a Research Nurse, a Research Scientist and a Technician have all been funded by the group.
