Breast Cancer Support is an international charity that provides much needed help, support and care to breast cancer patients who cannot afford screening or treatment. Our key objective this October is to raise funds to help save the lives of many. We aim to help breast cancer patients through funding treatment and early detection and intervention through our screening program.

Breast Cancer Support has been working on collaborative projects around the globe for the early detection of breast cancer. We are helping increase breast cancer awareness through our screening program, especially to those in poverty-stricken countries who do not have access to medical care, due to the lack of facilities and financial means. With the use of the iBreastExam screening device, we aim to help increase breast cancer survival rates through early detection.

The iBreastExam is a battery-operated wireless screening device, that can be taken anywhere easily. It does not replace a mammogram. As it is a cost effective, easy to use, portable hand-held device; its reach is immense. It can be used by a non-physician health worker who can reach out to a large number of women in poverty-stricken villages and societies. It can also be used by a physician in a primary health care setting to aid an initial breast examination. This screening process does not involve any pain or radiation. The device uses a new sensor technology that can detect the health of the breast for a mere fraction of the cost of a mammogram.

According to clinical trials, the iBreastExam is 19% more accurate than a doctors physical examination. It is also reported that the iBreastExam is 86% more likely to detect a knot in the breast than a mammogram. For the detection of breast cancer, the device has sensitivity of 84% and specificity of 94%.
