This winter, more people than ever will walk through our doors... hungry, cold, and unsure where to turn. Every person who comes to us has their own story, and each one reminds us why your support matters.
One of those stories is Carl’s.
Two years ago, Carl returned to England after a difficult divorce, determined to start over. He found work as a head chef, but a serious knee injury left him unable to work. Isolated, in debt, and without money for food or heating, Carl’s life began to unravel. He felt lost and didn’t know where to turn.
Then a neighbour told him about Brent Food Bank.
“At first, I hesitated. I wasn’t sure I could face it. But eventually, I reached a point where I was desperate and had no choice. When I walked through the doors, the staff were kind and understanding - something I hadn’t felt in a long time. They didn’t just give me food; they helped me find my way.”
With support from our team, Carl began to rebuild his life. Today, he’s volunteering at the food bank, offering the same kindness and hope he once received.
Carl’s story is one of many stories of people finding warmth, dignity, and a path forward when times are hardest.
