BREW HOPE AT THE ZEBRAS COMMUNITY CAFE!

The Zebras Community Café is not just about serving coffee; it's about brewing confidence, skills, and brighter futures for young people and adults facing significant barriers to mainstream employment due to complex needs and learning disabilities.

This vital initiative will create a tailored and supportive environment where individuals can gain invaluable practical work experience. Under the expert guidance of Equals Employment Services, part of the Integrated Learning Disability service, participants will develop essential skills in areas like food preparation, customer service, handling payments, and teamwork. Equals brings a wealth of experience in working with individuals who often find mainstream support inaccessible, ensuring they receive the specific guidance and encouragement they need to succeed.

This isn't the first time Zebras Charity has seen the transformative power of this project. Back in 2019, with funding from the Awards for All programme, we successfully partnered with Equals to run a similar community café. The impact was remarkable, demonstrating the potential for individuals to gain confidence and develop skills in a real-world setting.

Now, we're thrilled to be reigniting this successful partnership and building upon those previous achievements. At the heart of this project is our dedicated lead volunteer, a person with a learning disability who has been a valued member of the Zebras Charity family since 2019. He began his journey with us at our previous community café and embodies the very spirit of this initiative. His ambition and goal is to work in a café and share his passion for food with others. This project will provide him, and many others, with the crucial support needed to achieve their aspirations.

The Zebras Community Café will be a collaborative effort, with Equals staff, other project participants, dedicated volunteers, and Zebras Charity staff working together to create a truly inclusive and empowering space.
