Story

This Christmas, we are raising money to improve the Bridge House garden to transform it into an inspirational space for resident families to relax and recover. We are also raising funds to cover the cost of family days out for the residents, to improve their wellbeing and enable them to make family memories.

All funds raised will directly benefit the 7 women and 7 children who Bridge House is currently supporting. If you can make a donation today, it could pay for the following activities:

£5 - could pay for fruit, vegetable and flower seeds for the families to enjoy sowing in the garden.

£10 - could pay for the public transport for a family to have a day out together.

£25 - could pay for equipment for outdoor gardening and wellbeing activities.

£50 - could pay for 2 families to have a day out with some lunch.

£100 - could go towards purchasing larger garden equipment, such as a greenhouse or furniture.

Bridge House supports women and their children in rebuilding their lives and securing independent accommodation. We do this by addressing the individual barriers they face to living independently. Often, this is because they are fleeing domestic violence and have to start their lives over again, having suffered years of psychological, physical and sometimes sexual abuse. For some, the trauma they have been through has greatly affected their mental health and wellbeing.

About Bridge House:

Based in Luton, Bridge House is a women-only temporary housing service for mothers with young children fleeing crisis and experiencing homelessness:

- Expectant mothers

- Mothers with up to two children under the age of 10

- Single women aiming to have guardianship of their children

Bridge House homes up to seven families, providing a safe, stable environment with all the emotional and practical wraparound support needed as part of a pathway to independent living.

The service is designed to work with families to gain the valuable skills needed to end their cycle of homelessness. It offers choice, control, and the chance to focus on their future and aspirations. Support is tailored and trauma-informed, focusing on family well-being, helping mothers and children overcome the trauma and develop appropriate coping mechanisms.

Bridge House is more than a housing and support service; it is a home, and we work hard to ensure it feels like one.

Bridge House provides friendship and support at challenging times in your life. The feeling that you are not alone.” - Bridge House Resident

Bridge House gives me space and confidence in myself and my parenting skills. Children improve their social skills interacting with other children within the project." - Bridge House Resident
