Shine Charity aims to transform the life chances of children, young people & their families in areas of deprivation. We do this by investing in young people, supporting those experiencing disadvantage to achieve their potential, & empowering young people to make a difference to their communities.

Story

Shine Charity is working with Star Academies to help children to learn remotely and bridge the digital divide.

Covid-19 has had a devastating impact on our communities. News reports mention lives put on hold as we wait for the tipping point when mass vaccination will restore normality.

Meanwhile, our children continue to grow up. Their school days are ticking by and there is no second chance to learn the basics.

Star schools serve around 19,000 children in some of the most deprived areas of the country. Many are on the wrong side of the digital divide, without suitable devices for home learning or having to share laptops with siblings.

Over the last few months, we have refurbished and recycled devices wherever possible and given out those provided by the government.

Despite all this effort, some children still do not have the equipment they need right now.

We are reaching out to you to help us purchase the extra laptops that will give them the chance of success. This is their time.

On their behalf, thank you.
