For almost 400 children in rural Mozambique, getting to school has become a daily life-threatening journey.

Earlier this year, severe flooding destroyed the only pedestrian bridge linking their community with education, healthcare and essential services. Today, children are forced to cross a crocodile-infested river or walk an alternative route that adds more than an hour each way. The bridge also provides the main access to a local clinic, where thousands of villagers receive medical treatment, maternal healthcare and neonatal support each year.

For this community, the bridge wasn't simply a structure --it was their connection to opportunity.

Following an initial assessment earlier this year, an engineer has designed a replacement bridge and careful planning is already underway. A skilled team of engineers and volunteers is now being assembled, with the aim of making significant progress during a single, carefully coordinated trip.

But first, the people and expertise needed to rebuild the bridge must reach this remote community.
