Story
This year we are attempting to raise £53,000 to purchase a Single Balloon Enteroscopy for Leicester Hospital Trust.
It allows the doctor to perform biopsies without surgery and to mark areas for surgery if necessary. It also enables the removal of precancerous, early-stage cancer from the digestive tract.
Moreover, the physician may extract tissue samples for microscopic examination in a pathology laboratory. This form of enteroscopy is valuable for identifying small bowel tumours. The types of tumours commonly identified include adenocarcinomas, lymphomas, carcinoid tumours, and GI stromal tumours.
