Huge numbers of needy children are denied the opportunity to learn how to read and write.
Children watching behind the fence at St Annes School just longing for an opportunity to become a pupil one day! At times, there are 30 and more children gathering together just like these two only to walk away with no hope!
Already, St Annes School is having a massive impact on Bumala town; digging a well, installing water harvesting equipment etc. The children now being sponsored in UK allows them full time education from the ages of 3 to 12, clothing, 2 meals a day and being monitored for social care and hygiene.
Also during the Covid Pandemic, needy families were given staple food such as maize, beans, sugar and rice to help them through difficult days.
A wonderful story showing how precious and often unreachable education is to the ordinary folk when an 84 year old, Kimani Maruge, fought to attend school for the first time in his life. The First Grader film can be seen via this link to You TubeThe First Grader
