To promote community participation in healthy recreation by the provision of facilities for the playing of rugby and bringing disabled people into contact with the sport. We aim to broaden the horizons of both our players and those of our opposition in order to promote Rugby for All.

Story

In June 2020, we're going to Cork, Ireland to compete in the International Mixed Ability Rugby Tournament, with a cost of over £15,000 the charity needs your support.

Who are we...

The Bumbles are unique in England as the first team playing Mixed Ability Contact Rugby Union.

Founded in 2009 by a determined young man with Cerebral Palsy and Learning Difficulties the team has been guided by an established Welsh Inclusive Rugby Side, the Llanelli Warriors.

With the support of the RFU and an established home at the Bradford and Bingley Rugby Club, the Bumble Bees are a stand-alone club, having over 40 registered players with and without disabilities and play regular fixtures against Able-bodied teams.

Four years ago the Bumbles attracted the attention of the WEA (Workers Educational Association), and were able to set up a class for players with Learning Disabilities, the WEA Inclusion in Rugby Group, aiming to promote disability awareness, social inclusion and equality through Rugby.

These players have created a promotional training package and presentation designed to encourage the creation of new Inclusive Teams and the expansion of Mixed Ability Rugby. Material can be made available on demand!

New players with and without disabilities always welcome!

Training every Saturday morning, feel free to come down and meet the team.
