Burnley to Edinburgh Challenge!! Support our staff team to raise the final £1000 towards our Edinburgh Fringe Festival fundraising target of £9000!

Our young company, FirstByte Theatre, have been busy fundraising over the last 10 months and have done an amazing job doing bake sales, face painting, sponsored challenges and talent shows. But as the cost of accommodation and travel has rocketed this year, our target has increased by over £1000 from last year so we now need a final push to get us over the line! And that’s where our staff are stepping in - Rachael, Karen, Hannah, Matt and Emily will be taking part in a huge challenge during July - travelling the distance from Burnley - Edinburgh (211 miles!) through , running, hiking, swimming and biking.

All money raised will help FirstByte reach their fundraising target of £9000 to perform their new play ‘Decay’ at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 7-10 August 2023! Any donations will be greatly appreciated, no matter how big or small! And if you are eligible, please add Gift Aid to your donation as this means we will receive an extra 25% from the government on top of any donation you make.

What is FirstByte?

FirstByte is Burnley Youth Theatre’s unique training opportunity for young people aged 14-18 across East Lancashire. We bring a small group of young performers together to form a young company who produce productions throughout the year leading up to performing their own devised piece of theatre at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

First Byte receives a high level of support and mentoring from skilled members of the BYT team allowing them to experience what goes into creating a piece of theatre. From rehearsing, fundraising, marketing, developing sets and costumes, technical skills as well as developing their performance skills.

The members of First Byte are a dedicated, committed and proactive team of young people getting their first experience of life as a creative.
