Over 21 days in July, a team of young people and staff from Burnley Youth Theatre will be collectively walking 211 miles - the distance from Burnley to Edinburgh - to raise the final money needed for our Firstbyte Young Company’s trip to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August, an opportunity of a lifetime to perform on an international stage. Any support you can give will be much appreciated

Our young company, FirstByte Theatre, have been busy fundraising over the last 10 months and have done an amazing job organising bake sales, family events, sponsored challenges and productions.

We now need a final push to get us over the line! And that’s where the Burnley to Edinburgh walking challenge comes in! The team will travel the distance from Burnley - Edinburgh (211 miles!)

All money raised will help FirstByte reach their fundraising target of £9000 to perform their new play ‘Everything, Something, Nothing' at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 5-8 August 2024!

What is FirstByte?

FirstByte is Burnley Youth Theatre’s unique training opportunity for young people aged 14-18 across East Lancashire. We bring a small group of young performers together to form a young company who produce productions throughout the year leading up to performing their own devised piece of theatre at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

First Byte receives a high level of support and mentoring from skilled members of the BYT team allowing them to experience what goes into creating a piece of theatre. From rehearsing, fundraising, marketing, developing sets and costumes, technical skills as well as developing their performance skills.

The members of First Byte are a dedicated, committed and proactive team of young people getting their first experience of life as a creative.
