Story

We want the residents to feel comforted, relaxed and cared for this Christmas. We are therefore raising money to purchase Pamper Packs to help residents create calming spaces in their rooms to improve their sleep.

The packs will be made up of new pillows, duvets, bed sheets, towels, shower gel, sleeping spray and hot chocolate.

If you can donate to support Brighton Women's Service this Christmas, your donation will pay for the following:

£8 - could pay for a mini Pamper Pack, including shower gel, sleep spray and hot chocolate.

£15 - could pay for a mini Pamper Pack and a towel.

£30 - could pay for new pillows and a duvet.

£50 - could pay for a full Pamper Pack

Sleep significantly benefits both mental and physical health. A good night's sleep can improve attention and concentration, help to maintain healthy habits, improve emotional and mental wellbeing, and reduce stress. Feeling rested makes a difference in how we cope with the day-to-day challenges of life.

The women supported through our Brighton Service experience multiple disadvantages and have to contend daily with the trauma as a result of experiences of homelessness, domestic violence, physical and emotional abuse, mental ill health, and substance and alcohol use. Due to this, we find sleep a real challenge for residents. Through our experience, we know sleep can make the difference between a good or bad day and how effectively they can engage in support.

About Brighton Women's Service

Brighton Women’s Service (BWS) is a women-only residential project providing assistance across 2 properties to 18 women who have experienced homelessness, domestic violence, physical and emotional abuse, and have support needs around mental health, drugs and alcohol and offending behaviours. Through empowerment and holistic support, BWS aims to help women recover their lives.

We have created a positive, supportive environment at our Brighton residences where women with these needs can develop the skills and resilience to move on to independent living and live happier, fulfilled lives. Our primary goal is to engage positively with residents so that they can identify their own needs and benefit from appropriate support and treatment services.

We work with our residents to prioritise the issues they want to address and support them in developing recovery plans that meet their individual needs. This may include working with substance misuse agencies, engaging in activities such as education or creative activities, counselling, support with money management or debt advice, and addressing any physical and/or sexual health issues they may have. We work with local GPs and Arch Healthcare to ensure all women have access to primary healthcare services. Where women are mothers, we also work closely with Social Services and the wider family to ensure they can maintain safe access.
