Story
CACE is a charity supporting older people across Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and the Northern Corridor. We are incredibly grateful for the amazing support we receive from our community.
Earlier this year, we lost a significant source of funding and had to make difficult changes, including moving to more affordable premises. Despite these challenges, our dedicated staff and volunteers have continued to provide vital support, friendship and activities for older adults and people living with dementia.
Sadly, last weekend, two of our community buses had their back doors smashed in.
The damaged vehicles include our brand-new Ford E-Transit, purchased with funding from the Scottish Government, and another minibus that our wonderful community helped us raise funds to purchase. We are absolutely devastated. Thankfully, neither vehicle was stolen, but both are now off the road until repairs can be completed.
This has a huge impact on the people who rely on us. Without our buses, we cannot run some of our weekly groups and outings, meaning people are missing out on the friendship, social connection and warm welcome they look forward to each week. We are also unable to fulfil some bus hire bookings, which not only impacted the groups hiring them but also resulting in further lost income for CACE. We now face the additional cost of our insurance excess at a time when our finances are already stretched.
Every donation, no matter how small, will help towards the repair costs and allow us to get back to supporting the people who need us.
If you can't donate, sharing our JustGiving page would also mean so much.
Thank you for supporting CACE and helping us keep older people connected, active and part of their community.
