We know that diagnosis creates feelings of anxiety, stress and disorder so we provide respite and financial support to individuals and their families affected by cancer. We do this by funding memorable days out, short trips and issuing benevolent grants.

How you will help

Lasting Memories Cancer Trust is a volunteer led charity covering Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire and is leading this campaign to help raise vital funds to provide its services. By supporting the campaign, you will help us continue to organise and fund days out and short breaks for families affected by cancer. This quality time is important for individuals to create lasting memories to cherish with loved ones.

We also help people affected by cancer that are experiencing financial hardship by supporting with the cost of transport to medical appointments, essentials around the house that make life easier, and small grants to help with the rising cost of energy.

Our roots are based in Stevenage, and we have helped over 65 families since we started in 2020.

Why do we need your help?

Cancer is the leading cause of death in the UK, ahead of other diseases. Although, mortality rates have fallen, around 460 people die from cancer every day in the UK. There are more than 1,000 new cases of cancer every day in the UK.

Cancer screening and care has been impacted and the Covid-19 pandemic and local support from small charities is becoming increasingly important and relied upon. The number of people affected by cancer is projected to grow in coming years, yet the focus from governments across the UK is fading, with no long-term plan to improve cancer pathways.

Despite this, local communities can help people in their area by supporting Cancer Awareness Day to show their support and help raise vital funds.
