We are in desperate need of your support to maintain services in Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets.

We are Citizens Advice East End (CAEE), a local charity in Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets. We have been providing free, legal advice in welfare benefits, debt, housing, employment, energy and many more areas, for over 80 years to the most vulnerable people.

We are facing financial pressures from the ongoing impacts of the cost-of-living crisis. Our usual funding streams are also unable to provide the level of funding needed to maintain services.

We are members of the Citizens Advice network and carry the brand association. A common misconception is that our core services are directly funded by the National Citizens Advice or the central government. This is not the case and impacts on securing funding.

Despite the challenges, we deliver meaningful outcomes. Annually, we provide advice to 25,000 residents, supporting over 64,000 issues and raising household incomes by £25 million. In 22/23 we provided over £240,000 in fuel vouchers, over £21,000 in food vouchers and over £55,000 in charitable grants. We help some of the most vulnerable people in our communities facing unimaginable levels of destitution; over 30% suffer from a long term health condition/disability and over 40% have dependent children.

We believe charity starts at home and you can make an immediate difference.

Here is what our clients have to say about us:

Very very grateful for the time and listening to all the troubles and problems and supporting in amazing ways; without the support and time you give to alleviate worries and stress we wouldn't be in a positive mental state and mental health would have gone down; and now we can keep warm and clean with heating and hot water; nice to feel supported and not by yourself and knowing that someone cares.

Thank you very very much for all your help and support that you have given me and my boys over the last several years we would be lost without your help.

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks for your invaluable assistance with my parents' case. When my parents were struggling to make ends meet and facing financial difficulties, your intervention played a crucial role in bringing about a positive outcome. This achievement has relieved a significant burden from my parents' shoulders. With the additional support they are now receiving, they can better manage their living expenses, including housing costs, without compromising their well-being. Your unwavering commitment to your work and the compassion you have shown throughout this process have been truly commendable. Your prompt response, attention to detail, and ability to navigate complex bureaucratic systems have been instrumental in securing a positive outcome for my parents.
