Story
On Tuesday 6 October, we had one of our vans stolen and stripped for parts, and our operation is at serious risk. We have been provided with a temporary 14-day loan van through our insurance provider but, beyond this, we will no longer have a van to transport food items to people facing hunger and hardship across Cambridge. Sourcing a suitable replacement will cost us thousands more than we can claim on our insurance and, in a week or so, we will find ourselves in the position where we are extremely restricted on the amount of food we are able to provide for people who desperately need it.
While criminals may have stolen our van, they will never take our hope and belief in the power of community. Anything you are able to give will be very gratefully received and make a huge difference to our charity and the people we serve.
Any funds raised in excess of the cost of purchasing and running the vehicle will be used to support the Foodbank’s wider work providing food and related services to people experiencing hunger and hardship.
