Story
I am a GP working in Cornwall, I am also the Chair of Kernow Local Medical Committee, through this role me and my team represent GPs across Cornwall providing negotiation, mitigation, training and wellbeing support. Through this role I have been introduced to The Cameron Fund.
I love to run its a massive part of keeping me sane and functional. Occasionally I use it for fundraising opportunities. For this run I hope to beat my fastest Half Marathon time. For anyone who has tried this goal, you will know quite how much pain I am about to experience. Sponsorship really helps me keep pushing when the going gets tough. Knowing that there is more on the line that just my own personal triumph I find really powerful. So please help me get across that line.
I am really grateful that The Cameron Fund exists - they provide a really valuable safety net to GPs who find themselves if dire financial distress. We are all at risk of our lives falling apart, be that ill-health, disability, bereavement, work based failure. As with most professions there is a charity there in the background able to step in when all other avenues seem to close. And for GPs and our dependants that is The Cameron Fund.
They rely on donations to keep running. But in truth I really want to spread the word of their existence, so should any of my colleagues that I represent be in hardship they have some idea that help is out there.
