Story
Here at Canbury we love a challenge – and it seems our brilliant students have inspired one of our parents to now undertake a challenge of his own. Whilst the rest of us will be snuggled up cosy at home on a Sunday afternoon, Lloyd's Father will be skiing 90km cross country – and all to raise money for our sports department!
His hair-raising scheme will see him racing the famous Vassalopet Swedish route on its 100th anniversary, along with approximately 10,000 other competitors.
“I’ve completed this course once before in 2020, finishing in 11.5 hours, and the second time I was a DNF (‘did not finish’). This will be my last attempt, and I am hoping to be done and dusted within 10.5 hours,” says Nathan, who is hoping to raise £1,000 for the School.
“Whilst I won’t be raising money for ski accessories, I know the Canbury Sports Department staff are busy drawing up a shopping list for equipment they know the students will love using,” he says. “I know everyone says it, but every little bit counts. To a small school like Canbury, where staff really do go out of their way to help the students, I know this money will bring a much-needed boost to the sporting coffers. Thank you to everyone for reading this. See you on the other side!"
