Story

Last year we had a fantastic team of individuals that took on the challenge of the 'Three Peaks' and raised an incredible amount of money for NCW.

This year, we are taking our summer challenge to the river!

This is no ordinary event and over three days our amazing, supportive and new team of Fundraisers will Canoe approximately 80 miles whilst raising funds for the College.

Our canoeists will come from all over the UK and include former students, parents and footballers to bankers. They will start at Melverly and pass through the beautiful towns of Shrewsbury, Iron Bridge and Bridgenorth before finishing in Worcester on day three.

This is an epic adventure and one that everyone will remember.

We hope to raise £25,000 in sponsorship for New College Worcester.

NCW is a national, residential, special School and College for young people aged 11 to 19 who are blind or vision impaired.

Every student at NCW has a tailored programme, carefully planned and delivered to meet their individual needs in three key areas; academic achievement, independent living skills and involvement in extracurricular activities.

The opportunities provided to students in these three areas of provision play a crucial role in the development of confidence and self-esteem as well as preparing for life beyond our College.

We are delighted to announce that Worcester Women Football Club are also joining us on this adventure.

Keen supporters of the college, "We are very excited as a club to be part of this challenge and see it is a chance for team bonding to occur as we look to prepare for the 22/23 season. We are proud to be partnered with an incredible institution and look forward to getting out on the water."

Meet Rob one of our team members:

"I was unable to join the team with the amazing work they done last year on the Three Peaks Challenge, but I am raring to go this year for the canoe trip. I have been wanting to help raise money for NCW since I became aware of the amazing services and support you provide vision impaired children and young adults. A friend of mine, has a son that attends NCW and since joining the transformation has been amazing and therefore I want to help raise as much money as possible to allow NCW to have the same impact on many more children."

Meet Steve another of our amazing team members:

"Having been a member of the 3 Peaks Challenge team in 2021 and meeting the staff and students, the work NCW undertakes is truly inspirational. I am proud to be involved with NCW".

Meet another team member Brook:

Brook has previously done challenges for NCW and we are super excited that he is up for another challenge this year. "I am supporting NCW because of George (a student) - an amazing individual, whose personality and determination makes me smile every time I meet him. George is able to enjoy a far higher level of independence because of the efforts of NCW, and his personal development since being there has been exponential. A truly magical place."

One of our latest recruit, Jacob:

"New College Worcester provides its students with life-enhancing skills and confidence. Im proud to be part of a team raising money to help NCW to continue its important work in creating a bright future for its pupils."

We are delighted that Erol has also joined the Trek:

Erol is the Godfather of one of our pupils and keen to support NCW.
