Captain Tom needs our help!!
He has a very upset tummy. He randomly has bouts of quite bad diarrhoea and the vet is worried it might be a gut disorder for example. IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome) or ARD (antibiotic responsive diarrhoea) or EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency) or a combination of these and he needs faecal tests and also pancreatic diagnostics tests for these conditions. These issues are common in German Shepherds,
The vet has suggested starting with EPI as theres a specific test for this but treatment is also the most expensive so if this can be ruled in/out its the best place to start.
Captain Tom has been to see the vet for a full screen blood test. This will check his intestinal and pancreatic function and look at exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (measuring TLI). This initial test is £185 and the vet thinks we should move quite quickly on this so Captain Tom doesnt have any unnecessary suffering and I know we all agree. Lets hope we get some answers quickly.
Captain Tom is now in foster care with Caroline who is doing a great job looking after him.
