Story
Caring for a loved one can be deeply rewarding, but it can also be lonely and overwhelming. Research shows that half of unpaid carers feel isolated, while almost 80% experience stress and anxiety.
At Carers Oxfordshire, we understand the importance of connection. Our Phone Friends service gives unpaid carers the opportunity to have regular conversations with a friendly volunteer – someone who listens, understands, and genuinely cares.
🌟 Why This Matters
Unpaid carers are the invisible backbone of our communities—quietly supporting loved ones through illness, disability, and age. But who supports them?
• 70% of carers live with a long-term physical or mental health condition
• 79% feel stressed or anxious, and nearly half feel depressed
• 57% say they feel overwhelmed often or always
• 50% report feeling lonely
• 73% continue caring even when at breaking point
Caring can be isolating. It can mean putting off your own health, sacrificing friendships, and losing the simple joy of a chat with someone who truly listens.
