Winnicott Charity Car Seat and Family Support Campaign

The Winnicott Foundation, the charity that supports the Neonatal Intensive Care Units at St Mary's & Queen Charlotte's Hospitals are looking to buy a new additional Maxi-Cosi car seat to safely transport premature babies between our two hospitals.

The Winnicott Foundation helps to support care for premature and critically ill newborn babies and their families. It aims to help: - Save the lives of more babies - Enable babies to leave hospital sooner - Produce better long term futures for babies - Support parents to be with their babies

Story

The community outreach and neonatal teams at the St Mary's & Queen Charlotte's NICU are looking to purchase another car seat to transport premature babies between our neonatal wards as well as helping families get home after their stay on the ward. We also have a number of small items and equipment that we will be looking to purchase to help support the teams in providing amazing care and comfy facilities for families.

We are looking to raise around £500 to purchase a Maxi Cosi car seat a, car seat base and any additional accessories they may require. The charity currently has one car seat, but it often means that other families are unable to make appointments or wait for to transfer to another ward with their baby on either site. This also means that families are often waiting longer to be transferred home or to their local hospital.

The Maxi Cosi car seat is fantastic for premature babies as it has a small size inlay and is incredibly protective, keeping our babies safe on their journey between hospitals. It's also entirely washable so we will be able to continue to use the car seat for many families journeys in the future!

Any donation amount will be greatly appreciated towards our appeal - just £5 would really make a difference!
