In January 2023, a burst pipe caused devastating flooding at our Catterburn Brownie House. The damage was extensive - water affected every part of the building: the kitchen, storage rooms, bedrooms, furniture, and bathrooms. Floors buckled, ceilings collapsed, and sadly, all the furniture had to be thrown away.
A specialist company came to dry the building, but they had to cut holes in the floors, leaving the Brownie House completely uninhabitable.
While we worked tirelessly to deal with insurance claims and obtain quotes, the damage worsened.
Over the hot summer, moisture in the roof - likely from the original flood -caused further deterioration. Now, the roof is in dire need of replacement. To make matters worse, in December 2023, another burst pipe caused additional flooding, resulting in even more damage to ceilings and floors.
This special place is more than just a building - it’s where girls create lifelong memories. For many, weekends at Catterburn are their only holiday of the year. It’s a safe, inspiring space where they can explore, bond and grow.
Our dedicated team of volunteers gives so much to support young people - because they are the future!
We believe Catterburn Brownie House can not only be the haven it once was, but we can make it better. We are working towards replacing the Brownie House with a new Catterburn Outdoor Activity Centre - a place that's designed for all age groups, with first-class facilities and a modern, attractive design.
But we need your help to make that happen.
