Catterburn: Help us rebuild for the future
Catterburn is Girlguiding Dunbartonshire’s much‑loved activity and campsite, a place where generations of girls have discovered confidence, friendship and adventure in the outdoors.
For many young people, Catterburn is their first night away from home, their first campfire, their first chance to try new challenges in a safe and supportive environment.
In recent years, the site has faced significant challenges. In January 2023, the Brownie House – our largest indoor accommodation building – was devastated by flooding and has been out of use ever since.
At the same time, our Guide Hut requires major modernisation to remain safe and usable. Essential work includes a new roof, structural repairs, insulation, and upgraded toilets and kitchen facilities. This redevelopment will allow the Guide Hut to become fully accessible, warm and fit for residential use, increasing the indoor capacity we urgently need.
Together, these projects are essential to securing Catterburn’s long‑term sustainability. Without modern, safe and welcoming indoor spaces, we cannot offer the experiences our young members deserve or generate the income needed to maintain the site.
Your support will help us:
Refurbish the Guide Hut so it can once again host residential groups and activities
Rebuild the Brownie House after the 2023 flood, restoring our main accommodation building
Protect Catterburn’s future, ensuring it remains a place of adventure for generations to come
Every donation, large or small, brings us one step closer to reopening these buildings and giving girls across Dunbartonshire the opportunities that only Catterburn can offer.
Thank you for helping us rebuild, restore and reimagine this special place.
