Catterick Saddle Club Support

Catterick Saddle Club is nestled within the heart of the Garrison in North Yorkshire and part of The Armed Forces Equine Charity, offering lessons, a home for the RDA, Equine Assisted Recovery and Equine Assisted Learning.

We provide facilities & encourage participation in sport & recreation for all who are part of the armed forces community. For those in need, are the interactions we design and deliver between human and horse. Plus our wider welfare and wellbeing work is delivered through our community hubs and cafe.

Story

Nestled in the heart of the Garrison in North Yorkshire, Catterick Saddle Club (CSC) is more than just a riding school. It’s a sanctuary, a space where veterans, civilians, and families can experience the transformative power of horses. A place that has been part of history since WW1 and continues to serve as a vital resource in our community today.

Originally built as a purpose-built horse hospital during the First World War, our centre has been a beacon of resilience and recovery ever since. The stable yard, which still holds many original features like its historic pharmacy, is not just a piece of history - it’s a testament to the healing power that horses can offer.

For decades, CSC has served as a riding school, livery, and competition yard, providing a safe and welcoming environment for all who visit. But we do so much more. We provide Equine Assisted Learning, where children and adults alike can experience the life-changing benefits of equine therapy. Our centre is also home to two local Riding for the Disabled (RDA) groups, supporting those with additional needs. For some, it’s a peaceful haven, a place to escape the pressures of daily life and find solace in the company of horses.

However, the future of places like CSC is at risk. In the UK, 20% of equestrian centres have closed in the last year alone. That’s over 1.75 million riding lessons lost, leaving many without access to the life-changing benefits that horses can provide. We are determined not to become another statistic. Your donation can make sure that CSC continues to thrive and offer affordable, accessible equestrian experiences for those who need it most.

Our commitment to supporting mental health goes beyond the children and families we help. We provide life-changing opportunities for military veterans in recovery through both clinical and non-clinical care programs. Our equine therapy courses give veterans the chance to heal, reconnect, and regain a sense of purpose in a peaceful and supportive environment.

By donating to CSC, you’re not just supporting a riding school - you’re supporting a community. You’re investing in the futures of those who need it most, whether they’re children learning the value of responsibility, veterans finding healing, or individuals simply looking for a place of peace. Your generosity helps us continue to provide vital services, ensuring that Equine Assisted Learning and Veterans’ Recovery Programs can grow and thrive.

Together, we can keep CSC a place for empowerment, growth, and healing for all. Your donation can help preserve a legacy of transformation, one that reaches far beyond the saddle.

Thank you for your support. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference.
