Story
At Christ Church Pitsmoor we value being local, inclusive and welcoming. We have a long history of working with the community to provide services and spaces for everyone. We’ve provided beds for those with nowhere to sleep, food for the hungry, and company for the lonely.
We’ve hosted hustings, cabarets, rained-off lantern festivals, comedy nights, poetry gigs, TEDx talks, and of course the Zero Budget Film Festival.
During a typical week you’ll find a toddler group, Pilates, social events and yoga classes happening here too.
In July 2022 Christ Church Pitsmoor was significantly damaged by an arson attack. As well as damage to the electronics, brickwork and fabric of the back of the building, our chairs, carpet and paintwork were ruined by smoke.
With the help of our building insurance, we have been able to get the building back up and running so it is at least useable for the community. However, there is still a long way to go before we’re back to normal.
So, we are asking for your help. We are aiming to raise around £10,000 to help us cover the costs of the bits not covered by our insurers. If we end up with any kind of surplus, then we will reinvest every penny into making the space an even better community venue as we continually aim to improve our facilities.
With your help, we can make sure the Welcome Centre and Christ Church Pitsmoor is a community space for everyone.
