Shannon Trust supports thousands of people in prison each year to learn to read and improve their numeracy skills. Currently, over 70% of people in prison struggle with reading and numeracy. Many cannot read at all. Learning reduces re-offending, and creates stronger, safer, communities for all.

Story

It is estimated that 57% of people entering prison either struggle to, or cannot, read. That is why we are asking you to challenge yourself to complete 57 miles throughout August, so that we can help more people turn their lives around by learning to read.

Whether its on your own, with a group of friends, or as a family; Challenge 57 is the perfect opportunity to get active, embrace nature and enjoy the summer sunshine, all while raising vital funds to support disadvantaged people to learn to read.

If you don't think you will be able to reach 57 miles, maybe try doing 57 minutes of exercise each day instead. It can be walking, yoga, dancing, or even a different activity every day.

Will you take on the challenge?
