Story

The Charlie House 2.6 Challenge

Since the Covid-19 lockdown and isolation began, Charlie House has seen an 80% increase in requests for support from the families we engage with and a significant reduction in income and donations. We are offering online and phone support and our team are working incredibly hard to meet demand. We have also created pre-recorded information videos, on-line activities and resources, arranged delivery of 40 isolation packs including sensory toys, games, arts & crafts and pamper packs, disposable gloves and hand sanitiser.

The support provided by the Charlie House team is a lifeline for some families as they adjust to the extended isolation period while juggling siblings who are currently out of school, working from home and the withdrawal of regular carers who help share their childs care requirements. We have to continue to be able to offer this support and keep our charity functioning to ensure the families are supported now and into the future. You can help us by taking part in The 2.6 Challenge www.twopointsixchallenge.co.uk which has been launched by the organisers of the London Marathon to help support charities like Charlie House while encouraging people to stay active.

This is a fun challenge for all ages and abilities. All you need to do is think of an activity based around the numbers 2 and 6 that suits your skills. This could be something as simple as pledging to walk 2.6 miles as your daily exercise, to doing 26 minutes of exercise, or 26 keepy ups, walking around your garden 26 times.

Please email fundraise@charliehouse.org.uk for our 26 Idea Fact Sheet - You dont have to use any of them though, you can come up with your own, unique ideas.

Dont worry if youre not able to get out your house or flat for now you can do your 2.6 challenge anywhere inside too! There are no rules, apart from the Government guidelines on how to exercise safely during this time. Whatever you can do, you can be a part of it the main thing is to

get active, have fun and pledge whatever you can to support Charlie House and in turn support the families at this difficult time.

Please do share any videos that you have of you doing your challenge, we want you to have fun and brighten up other peoples days by sharing!

Remember every little helps but it all makes a BIG difference to the families we support.
