Story
Every week, people arrive in Cheshire after fleeing war, persecution and unimaginable hardship. Many arrive with little more than hope for a safer future.
At CHAWREC (Cheshire Halton & Warrington Race & Equality Centre), we believe everyone deserves dignity, opportunity and a warm welcome.
Through The Unity Centre, we provide vital support to refugees, people seeking asylum and other marginalised communities across Cheshire. We challenge racism, strengthen communities and help people rebuild their lives.
Today, we need your help.
A Lifeline for 60 People Every Week
Our Asylum Hub welcomes up to 60 people every week.
For many, it is much more than a support service. It is a place where they feel safe, valued and connected.
Here, people can access:
✅ Hot meals and refreshments
✅ Travel support to essential appointments
✅ Clothing and household donations
✅ ESOL (English language) lessons
✅ Immigration and welfare advice
✅ Wellbeing activities and community connections
✅ Support in Arabic, Farsi, Cantonese, Ukrainian and other languages
Our experienced team helps people navigate housing, healthcare, education and legal systems while they build new lives in a new country. The Challenge
Demand for our services continues to grow.
Yet despite the essential role our Asylum Hub plays in supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our communities, we receive no government funding for this work.
Everything we provide is made possible through the dedication of volunteers and the generosity of supporters.
This autumn, we need to raise £30,000 to keep these vital services running.
Without community support, people arriving in Cheshire at their most vulnerable risk losing access to the practical help, advice and human connection they rely upon.
£3 a Week Can Change a Life
A regular gift can make a huge difference.
Just £3 a week - less than the cost of a coffee and a cake - can help ensure that refugees and people seeking asylum continue to receive support when they need it most.
If 200 people committed to donating £3 per week, together we could raise the £30,000 needed to sustain our Asylum Hub for another year.
Your Impact
£5 could help provide a hot meal and refreshments.
£10 could help someone travel to an important medical, legal or housing appointment.
£25 could support English language learning and integration activities.
£50 could help provide specialist advice and support for someone navigating the asylum system.
£3 a week could help sustain our Asylum Hub and ensure ongoing support for people rebuilding their lives.
Together We Can Build Stronger Communities
