Story
Chef's Counter is on a journey to becoming the UK's leading, ethical hospitality company where we make incredible food available to all.
Since launching in the summer of 2023, Chef's Counter has cooked food for thousands of people through our public, corporate, private and wedding events, raised thousands of pounds of unrestricted funding for South Yorkshire based charities and community groups and provided supported employment and training opportunities to over 100 people around South Yorkshire (this includes cooking classes in SEN schools with neuro diverse young people, supported employment for young people who've been through the care system, people who've overcome homelessness and people with long term mental and physical health conditions).
Our ambition is to create more training and supported employment opportunities, provide more cooking classes for children and young people, create opportunities for the best up and coming chef's and food entrepreneurs to showcase their skills and products through our events and to empower charities and community groups through the skills of the Chef's Counter team and our friends.
To achieve this objective, we have created the Chef's Counter Acorn Fund in partnership with our friends at South Yorkshire Community Organisation. Our goal with the fund is to create an ethical way for our customers to know that the money they spend with us, achieves far more than just them enjoying a delicious meal.
Through the Chef's Counter Acorn Fund we want to achieve 2 things;
1. To provide funding for activities that improve access to delicious, nutritious food that communities want to eat. This could be through social eating activities, funding food business start up trading arms, cooking classes and anything else that improves peoples ability to enjoy great food.
2. We also want to provide core funding and management support to support organisations with a turnover of under £250k . Utilising our teams experience in organisational development, entrepreneurship and marketing, we want the fund to play a part in helping smaller charities and community groups to move from survival mode to flourishing.
Become a part of our journey by either booking onto one of our public dining events, booking Chef's Counter for a corporate, private dining or wedding or by simply donating to the fund.
