Story
Chester the cat is currently a resident at Oak Tree Animals Charity and he urgently needs your donations to fund his specialist ear surgery.
Gina Antonacci, the Small Animal Team Leader at Oak Tree, said:
Chester had developed a severe ear infection which had been left untreated by his owners. He had started to visit his neighbours garden which offered him more shelter than his own and they soon realised that he needed veterinary care for his ear. Working with the RSPCA it was clear that the owners were unable to provide the necessary care for Chester, and he was ultimately signed over to our care. Unfortunately for Chester, the ear infection has gone on for so long, he now needs specialist surgery to remove his ear and entire ear canal. The surgery is estimated to cost approximately £2,000. He has been in a lot of pain with his ear leaking blood and pus, but luckily the treatment has a very high likelihood of success with little or no further intervention required.
Despite his discomfort Chester has won the hearts of our team and is always up for a cuddle. We know he will make a wonderful forever friend when he recovers.
This winter Oak Tree has already seen a large increase in the number of people and animals needing their services due to the rise in the cost of living. So far this year, the Charity has helped over 4,300 animals, which is much more than the 2,600 animals helped last year. This Christmas Chester needs your help, please consider donating today.
UPDATE:
Chester has had his specialist ear operation and it has been successful! Thanks to all of you, the target of £2000 to cover the vet bill has been smashed! Chester is currently doing very well and is being kept cosy and warm in the Oak Tree Cattery. The Small Animal Team are continuing his post-operation care, and we hope he will soon be able to further his recovery in the comfort of a foster home.
We have been well and truly amazed by the support! Your donations will continue to make a huge difference to the lives of the animals we care for.
