Story
This page has been set up by Chickenshed's undergraduate BA students who are studying for their degrees in Inclusive Performance at Chickenshed Theatre.
Since September we have been devising two productions that address social issues that are important to us, and that we are going to take put on tour. We are passionate about making theatre that drives change, and we hope that these productions will kick-start that change.
Our shows will be performed in community/arts venues and schools across London and beyond, but we need your support to raise £5000 towards the additional costs of venue hire, transport hire, support and other areas so that we can take these productions to places where they can raise awareness and help change lives.
Why do we need this extra funding? Chickenshed embraces the potential of everyone, which is why student groups are fully inclusive. This means we need to arrange specific transport and extra support for projects that take place away from our own theatre, to ensure all students have an equal chance to participate in their course.
We would all appreciate if you could donate as much as you can - without this it would not be possible for us as BA students to be able to tour our shows in this way.
Artless
Ever thought or wondered what the world would be like without the Arts? Where government backed practical business and science thinking dominate and block all creativity. Until creative and artistic thought itself begins to deteriorate and die - as it is seen as a threat.
In the Artless story you will meet contrasting characters, families, communities and countries who are forced to live under the threat of an Artless existence in "The Camp".
Will the brainwashing make everyone fit in with societys new anti-creative visions and desires? Can artistic expression survive? Or will they be permanently replaced by a life of only science, technology and business futures. A world with no balance.
Aftermath
Have you ever been affected by grief? Or loss? Did you think grief was just death?
Grief isn't just about death - grief is about losing connections. Grief can hit you with a complicated bundle of emotions, leaving you feeling isolated.
During this show you'll understand more that grief is a part of life, while possibly changing the views you might already have. Our show will take you on a journey of empathy, offering a rollercoaster of emotions, different perspectives and acceptance.
