Story
Meet Chloe, a remarkable 12-year-old with autism, anxiety, and selective mutism. At home, she finds her voice, but in the world outside, she relies on Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) via a Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).
Enter Socky, her loyal toy dog, a constant friend in her unique journey. Chloe and her family discovered Capability Scotland's Youthzone in Edinburgh earlier this year—a safe place where her communication and socialisation skills began to blossom.
Since April, Chloe's world has expanded through local adventures—trips to the duck pond, canal strolls, and woodland walks. She's dived into baking, cooking, themed arts & crafts, chalk drawings under the open sky, and even revelled in the magic of Cool Creatures.
Witness the transformation—Chloe now strides into each session, Socky in hand, radiating a newfound confidence. Her smile, once shy, now beams as she embraces new friends and embarks on adventures that were once felt beyond her reach.
Chloe's progress is inspiring, yet this is just the beginning of her journey. Imagine the possibilities ahead for Chloe and others like her with your support.
