Story
For families supported by A Child of Mine, every day is lived in the shadow of profound loss. Grief doesn't stop for siblings, or for parents trying to hold everything together. We know that sometimes, what they need most isn't another therapy session, but simply permission to be happy for a few precious hours.
That is why we are aiming to raise £500 this Christmas.
Imagine a parent, who spends every moment holding back tears, seeing their child—a surviving sibling who also carries immense pain—laughing so hard their face hurts. They aren’t laughing because they’ve forgotten, but because, for one fleeting moment, the joy is bigger than the sorrow.
£500 allows us to create that moment.
It funds the things that give the parents a desperately needed break and a chance for bereaved children to connect, be loud, and burn off the pent-up energy of grief in an environment where they don't have to explain their story.
This campaign isn't about covering up the grief; it’s about providing a necessary, moment of lightness that proves joy still exists, even after the unthinkable.
Please help us reach our £500 goal by Christmas so that we can give these families the most wonderful gift of all: a day where their biggest task is simply to smile.
