Christmas Campaign 2025

Campaign by East Sussex WRAS

East Sussex WRAS are in desperate need to replace one of our vital anaesthetic machines. These are paramount in ensuring that our incredible veterinary team are able to care for wildlife as soon as it is admitted and administer vital care.

East Sussex WRAS was established as a voluntary group in 1996, but founder Trevor Weeks has been rescuing wildlife since 1985. The charity was set up to provide a front-line rescue & hospital service for people finding wildlife casualties as well as offering advice and information.

Story

Every year, East Sussex WRAS’s dedicated veterinary surgeons and Care Team treat thousands of sick, injured, and orphaned wild animals – providing life-saving veterinary care completely free of charge.

As one of the busiest wildlife casualty centres in the South East, our first aid room, veterinary theatre, and x-ray suite are in constant use. From prickly hedgehogs and feisty badgers, to powerful gannets with sharp beaks, every patient presents unique challenges. With the right equipment – including anaesthetic and x-ray machines – we can assess and treat these precious creatures more safely, quickly, and accurately.

But right now, we urgently need to replace and upgrade vital equipment including (but not limited to):

• Our anaesthetic machine needs replacement parts, and a second machine is essential for our x-ray room to ensure safer, smoother transfers and procedures.

• A new laryngoscope set is needed to manage airways and assist with the remove foreign objects.

• A Tono-Pen, which measures eye pressure, will help us diagnose and treat eye injuries more effectively.

These tools mean less stress for wildlife patients, faster and more accurate diagnoses, and – most importantly – quicker releases back into the wild.

With your support, we can give injured wildlife the very best chance of survival. Every donation, big or small, helps us provide the advanced care these animals desperately need.
